IRISH'S DRAKE OF WILDFOWLBAY
(Ch. Irish's Mystical Merlin x Ch. Irish's Royal Princess Ashly)
'DRAKE'
April 2, 1996 ~ February 2010
Drake did not start showing until he was 6 years old. He was in a few shows and earned some points, then hunting season came and he was done showing for the year. The following story explains why he never achieved his title.
Drake was either lost or stolen in November 2002 (the story kept changing by the people that had him). He was recovered the following April, the day before his 7th birthday. His owner, Rose Ann Wise, had found him at a vets office, not her regular vet, while she was there picking up her other dog from a surgery. The vets office had a flier with Drake's picture, name, tattoo number and owner information the entire time he was missing. Turns out that vet neutered Drake the very week he disappeared when his 'new owners' brought him in. The vet never bothered to investigate Drake's tattoo that he couldn't have missed during surgery. He also knew Drake was a 'found' dog by the people who brought him in, they were his regular clients. But the important part of the story is that by some miracle Drake's owners found him!
Rose Ann had this to say to us when she let us know Drake had passed away-
"He was the greatest dog, the second love of my life. I have so many great memories of him. He will be missed so much. Thank you for giving John and I and Harold too, this great gift. Drake was a one in a million, and just the sweetest dog ever. Thank You again.... Rose"
