Jackie was the first Chessie I (Dorene) finished, and the girl that got me back in the ring.
I had shown Gary's foundation bitch, Toby, one time at the Detroit Kennel Club in 1981. Everything went fine with Toby, I wasn't nervous while waiting to go in the ring. However, as soon as I went through the gate my nerves hit. I felt like my temperature went through the roof. When judging was done I walked out of the ring, handed Toby to Gary and told him I would never show another dog. He later told me he was stunned because from outside the ring it looked like I was fine. It was about 5 years before I went back in the ring to show Jackie. I had asked Gary if he thought Jackie was nice, why he didn't show her. He told me if I wanted her shown, I had to do it myself.
The rest is history.......
