CH IRISH'S MAJESTICAL MAXWELL
(Ch. Blustrywood's Barkley Bear x Irish's Crowning Glory)
'MAXWELL'
July 9, 1990 - December 1, 2005
The best story about Maxwell was the day he finished his Championship title. You see, Maxwell many times won only when there were trophies awarded. In fact, as a puppy, he took reserve to his brother Jake, but Maxwell got a trophy for winning his puppy class! We always joked about that. So, Maxwell was down to needing only a point or two to finish. The show day was approaching and if he won that day he would be finished. Only problem was, there weren't any trophies offered so that had us worried. So, the night before the show, his co-owner Jeff Kendrick was staying at our place and he told Maxwell, if he won, he would get $50 and a silver bowl. Of course, those trophies really weren't offered. Sure enough Maxwell finished his title the next day. All of a sudden Jeff disappears. We all wondered where he went. He came back a few minutes later with a stainless steel food dish he purchased from a vendor and he taped a $50 bill inside of it. Maxwell got his trophies as promised.
That dish & $50 sat in our trophy cabinet for many years. It always drew the attention of small children that would come to the house, so we'd tell them the story of how Maxwell won the trophy. We no longer have the dish & $50. Sadly Jeff passed away suddenly a few years ago. We wanted to give something personal to his two teenage children. So, we told his daughter the story, since it took place before her time, and gave her the dish and $50. We gave a nice pocket knife Jeff had given Gary to his son.
