GCH IRISH'S TIGRESS OF THE KNIGHT
(Ch. Irish's CK Dexter Haven x Ch. Irish's Mystical Maiden)
'SADIE'
August 3, 2007 ~ September 21, 2022
If Sadie could talk she would have quite the story to tell. We had sold her as a puppy to someone we had known for years and had owned several Chesapeakes in he past. She must have been close to 2 years of age when we learned that she had tested positive for heartworm. Long story short, her owner had the first treatment, but was not going to finish the program due to financial issues. We told him we would take Sadie, get the second treatment and keep her through her recovery, after which we would work something out to take care of the cost. As it turned out, her owner never got back with us. Luckily she had never been registered because we had been holding her registration back until her purchase price had been paid. Sadie had a very mild case of heartworm so she didn't have any lasting affects. So in the end, it cost us about $900 to get our dog back (the owner had never paid anything toward her purchase) but it turned out to be great for Sadie and we can't complain either.
Sadie's first time in the ring she placed Best of Winners. Her second show was the 2009 American Chesapeake Club National Specialty, where she placed Third in the Bred By Exhibitor class.
She finished her title at the Detroit Kennel Club in 2012 where she went Winners, Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex both days (Saturday was American Chesapeake Club Supported) with a Best Bred By Exhibitor award on Sunday. She picked up 3 & 4 point majors. Sadie took a bit longer to finish than usual, but she took some time off from the ring to raise puppies.
In 2013 she placed Best of Opposite Sex at the Detroit Kennel Club show which was supported by the American Chesapeake Club. Sadie quickly finished her Grand Champion title by April 2013.
Sadie had her last litter in 2014 and is mostly retired from the ring now, except maybe for special occasions.
