We've had a very busy and productive Spring, in and out of the ring - that's why I'm so late updating.
April started with the American Chesapeake Club (ACC) Supported entry at the Saginaw Valley Kennel Club show at the Birch Run Expo Center. We managed to put Grand Champion Titles on Roxy who was Select Bitch and Jess, who is a Veteran. Jess placed Best of Opposite Sex over Specials and also picked up Best in Veteran Sweepstakes. The following day we picked up a major for the first points on a young male, Winchester.
Later that month we were back at the Expo Center for the Progressive Dog Club of Wayne County show. We had Jesse (not the Veteran Jess) entered for her first time as a Special (Champion). Saturday she went Best of Breed over a nice size entry, then went on to a Sporting Group 2 and Owner Handled Group 1. We also picked up a major on Kali for her first points. The next day Jesse took Best of Breed again. Unfortunately we were unable to stay for the Group judging.
May brought the Supported Entry of the Michigan Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club (MCBRC) at the Genesee County Kennel Club show. Our Veterans did very well. Jake was Select Dog at 10 ½ years old as well as Best in Veteran Sweepstakes. Sue placed Select Bitch from the Veteran Class at almost 13 years old, beating out her younger Veteran family members. Sadie was the youngest Veteran we had entered at almost 9 yrs old, she went Best of Opposite Sex in Veteran Sweepstakes. Splash picked up a major placing Winners Dog from the Bred By Exhibitor class. The following day Chekka picked up her first points and a major going Best of Winners.
We didn't have any entries in June ourselves, but one of our co-owns, Ava, was entered one day of the M&M Cluster in Midland, MI. Ava finished her title at the Mt. Pleasant Kennel Club by going Best of Breed over Specials. Ava was handled to her title by owner Chris Reedy. This was a long awaited day, or at least it seemed that way. You see, Ava had been stuck on picking up her last couple of points for the past year. She has taken Reserve Winners at 3 of the last 4 Supported entries she had been shown at here in MI.
